Recently, Galactic Energy  completed a series of static, modal and separation tests on the fairing of the Pallas-1 launch vehicle, and the tests were a complete success!

The Pallas-1 series of launch vehicles are compatible with 3.35m, 4.2m and 5.2m diameter fairings to meet the needs of different satellite customers. The fairing of this test is one of the series of fairing products independently developed and designed by Galactic Energy, which is in the same state as the products of Pallas-1' maiden flight test. The fairing adopts the Von Karman shape, which has the advantages of low aerodynamic resistance, light structure and easy operation.

The fairing end cap is made of high-strength ablation-resistant composite material, the large area is made of honeycomb sandwich composite material, and the rear section is made of metal frame structure. The fairing separation system adopts the "hinge-spring" half-cowl rotary separation program, and the transverse and longitudinal separation and unlocking devices adopt point-type explosive bolts, which has low impact during the separation process and high separation reliability.

The static test of the fairing assessed the ability of the fairing to resist external loads and examined the structural strength, which achieved the expected purpose and obtained relevant data; the modal test obtained the modal parameters of the fairing, which provided the basis for the correction of the structural dynamics model and the calculation of the fairing separation.

The fairing separation test fully verified the correctness of the design of the fairing separation system, obtained the collision boundary data between the fairing separator and the payload, assessed the adaptability of the structural system to the separation of the concentrated force load and the impact load of the pyrotechnic products, and obtained important mechanical environment parameters.

The complete success of the fairing test series marks that Galactic Energy has already possessed the capability of rapid design, analysis and test of large-scale fairing for liquid rockets, which has laid a reliable foundation for the company's subsequent model development.
